WestConnex Stage 1A M4 Widening

Project lifecycle

We offer services to improve business performance by providing expert advice on all phases of a project lifecycle, from initiation to finalisation

Scope

WestConnex Stage 1 M4 Widening involved building an additional lane in each direction on the M4 Motorway, between Parramatta and Homebush. The project is approximately 7.5km long.

CJC role

From 2014 until early 2015, CJC was engaged by Sydney Motorway Corporation (now Transurban) to provide project management services throughout the tender bid assessment, during the procurement phase of the project. CJC was then engaged to provide personnel during the construction phase.

Our personnel took on key roles within the client delivery team, having an active presence on-site and at meetings with the Contractor, client and key stakeholders.

The responsibilities of our team included implementation of risk management project controls, project preparation and readiness, interface management with utilities providers and stakeholders, review of the design against as-constructed works, on-site safety surveillance, review of the Environmental Management Plan and budget preparation cost management for variation works.

Within the final twelve months of the construction phase, and partly during the finalisation phase, CJC personnel were engaged to manage the completion process for Sydney Motorway Corporation. Responsibilities included forming and facilitating a weekly completion meeting, reviewing quality compliance, attending and monitoring defect inspections, identifying high-risk items and reporting the status of completion to the Project Director.

CJC personnel continued to be engaged in the project as work areas were progressively opened to traffic and handed over to the Operation and Maintenance Contractor.
